  • Newton’s Laws of Motion

This fast-paced program shows how Newton’s three laws of motion can be used to explain and predict the motion of everyday objects. The effect of friction, including air resistance, is highlighted and the concept of inertia is illustrated with classic demonstrations. The program features worked examples, questions for class discussion, as well as the remarkable Rocketman who provides a dramatic example of the third law in action.

  • No Bullying in Our Community: Home/School Partnership Strategies

Bullying is complex, insidious and covert behavior that is difficult for any child to deal with in isolation. Our drive and instinct as parents is to protect and support our child and equip them with skills to handle what life presents. The key to tackling school bullying is to create a partnership between teachers, parents, students and the broader community. This program will support parents who want to work in partnership with their child’s school to bring about a suitable outcome for children involved in bullying. By doing this parents will become their child’s best advocate rather than a source that inflames the bullying.

  • Not in My Class: Managing Classroom Bullying Behaviours

Bullying in the classroom is a reality but is not always as obvious as other instances of bullying – such as in the playground. Bullying in the classroom can affect all students – not just those involved in bullying or on the receiving end of the behavior. No action by a teacher can be seen by students as condoning the bullying or giving tacit acceptance of the behavior. This program discusses the issue of classroom bullying behaviors, and offers thought-provoking management solutions for teachers who need to address this type of behavior.

  • Not in Our School: Creating a Non-Bullying Culture

Bullying – it’s a part of school life, but does it have to be? Preventing and responding to bullying is everyone’s responsibility. Not in Our School looks at the whole school approach to bullying. This approach focuses on a school’s formal curriculum and classroom practices and involves all members of the school community. This program highlights the steps to building a safe school, skills-building for students, peer support systems and student-directed campaigns. We feature expert opinion from Professor Ken Rigby, Psychologist Helen McGrath and Maree Stanley of the Better Buddies Program, and provide insights into approaches adopted by two Australian schools.

  • Nutrients – Their Interactions

Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water; these are the basic nutrients our bodies use everyday to keep us healthy. Individually, they are vital for many cellular and physical functions. Interacting with each other, in thousands of permutations, they allow our bodies not only to perform many other vital, complex and delicate functions that keeps us alive, but also to be very efficient in the way we do it. In this program we look beyond the relatively simple work of macro and micronutrients, to the complex and fascinating work that happens when nutrients interact with each other for the production of energy, for growth, repair and maintenance of hard and soft tissue and for regulation of the body’s processes. It’s a fascinating and complex process, presented in an entertaining, information-rich program that also examines the impact of deficiencies on short term and long term health. A must for Health and Human Development students and an excellent companion volume to VEA’s “Nutrients – the basics” , providing students with an understanding of the role of nutrients in the body and the almost miraculous way in which our bodies maintain themselves.

  • Mergers and Acquisitions

This program addresses two increasingly common occurrences in the business world – the merger of two or more companies/firms or the acquisition process. Using real life case studies, we examine the merge between SPC/Ardmona and the acquisition of PSB by OAMPS. The program covers the pressures that led to the changes, the way in which the change process was managed and criteria by which the success of the changes could be evaluated.

  • Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse

This program aims to support teachers’ current understanding of mandatory reporting of child abuse in schools across Australia. It focuses on the legal aspects of mandatory reporting, including variations from state to state, and describes the process by which a teacher can form a belief that a student is being abused. Additionally it provides clear definitions of what constitutes child abuse and explores the different possible physical and/or behavioral manifestations of the impact of child abuse on children. This program provides information to teachers about the process of making a notification to a relevant child protection authority and discusses how the notification might be handled from that point.
