Learning is a part of life. We learn many different things in a variety of ways. For educators, it’s all about finding the most effective learning styles for each individual to achieve success in the teaching environment. This program describes three main learning styles – visual, auditory and kinesthetic – and the four personality types that all individuals display. It provides concrete examples of the main styles and encourages all educators to learn more about the composition of their classes. By making the effort to cater for different styles of individual adult learners and varying teaching techniques, teachers and students can experience successful learning outcomes.

Adult Learning 3 – Inclusive Practices
In the face of ever increasing levels of diversity, educators are grappling to create and maintain inclusive learning cultures and environments. As facilitators of learning we must develop awareness of, and respond to, the diversity of our learners. This program provides an essential introduction to inclusive learning by exploring strategies that promote diversity and support inclusion. We also discover how organizations can improve the workplace through encouraging a positive learning culture and adopting inclusive learning practices. Through implementing inclusive learning practices, educators and trainers can provide learning and assessment that embraces and encourages diversity in the learning environment.

Understanding Electrolysis
Electrolysis has important applications in everyday life – from the batteries in our portable devices to the production of common metals such as aluminum. Featuring lab demonstrations, engaging graphics and clear explanations, this program looks at the chemistry of electrolysis. Two types of electrochemical cells are introduced – galvanic cells and electrolytic cells – and compared. The program discusses the industrial applications of electrochemistry, including brine electrolysis, aluminum production, electroplating and anodizing. Viewers are also introduced to the many applications of rechargeable batteries, such as lead-acid, Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries before concluding with an introduction to Faraday’s First Law of Electrolysis and stoichiometric calculations.

All About Chemical Bonding – Ionic
Who would have thought that two dangerous elements, such as sodium and chlorine, when bonded together, could create a new and harmless compound known as table salt? In this program we take a fascinating look at ionic bonding. Viewers will discover how and why bonding occurs, the Gilbert Lewis theory, the importance of the valence shell, the periodic table and its elements, and the common properties of ionic compounds. Viewers are also introduced to important terms of ionic bonding including electronegativety, Pauling scale, and ionization energy. With the assistance of animated graphics, ionic bonding is brought to life.

All About Chemical Bonding – Covalent
In this program we look at covalent bonding. A short summary as to why bonding occurs is presented before viewers witness how electrons are shared in covalent compounds. We discuss how the geometry of molecules is predicted by the Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion (VSEPR) theory, the two types of weak forces of attraction between molecules, dipole interactions and dispersion forces, and covalent network solids which are formed from carbon atoms. Examples of network solids are addressed including diamond, graphite and fullerenes. With the assistance of animated graphics, this program provides viewers with a wonderful introduction to chemical bonding.

All About Chemical Bonding – Metallic
Before delving into metallic bonding, viewers are provided with an overview of why bonding occurs, learn about Gilbert Lewis’s Octet rule and why the elements in the periodic table are categorized. We discuss the importance of the ‘sea’ of electrons and how this explains the many properties of metal including their shine, and their ability to conduct electricity and heat. We are then introduced to the different types of geometric arrangements including body-centered cubic, face-centered cubic and hexagonal close-packing. With the assistance of animated graphics, join us as we bring metallic bonding to life.

Careers with a Conscience
Landing an interview when seeking new employment can be a sign that your hard work is paying off. But how can you really decide whether the job is actually a suitable match for your qualifications and skills? In this informative program, we look at career conscience – where we listen to what feels right and what feels wrong – and how it can help us decide upon the career path we choose. We look at ways to: analyze the conscience of potential employees, match our needs and find suitable jobs, and the kind of legacy we want to leave behind. This program will assist viewers to understand what drives their career conscience and how to best utilize it.

Ethics and Legal Concepts in Nursing: Introduction
This program provides an introduction to ethics in the context of nursing practice and health care. The program explores concept definitions used in health care, the philosophical principles of health care and the process of ethical decision making. A brief commentary from experienced nurses, a nursing academic and a clinical nurse, explores the sometimes complex issues of ethics in nursing practice and health care. This program offers an overview of key points and provides a starting point for exploring ethical issues in nursing practice and health care.

Ethics and Legal Concepts in Nursing: Consent
Nurses deal with people and often those with whom they deal are highly vulnerable. Nurses have a duty of care to patients and their professional demands ethical behaviour and treatment of those in their care at all times. This program deals with patients and consent. The following chapters are included: Consent in Health Care Overview, Common Dilemma’s Case Study 1, Common Dilemma’s Case Study 2, Ethical Issues for Consent, Legal Issues for Consent and Professional Issue for Consent.

Cultural Diversity in Nursing Practice
Professional nursing requires a highly sophisticated set of communication skills. Every day, nurses must effectively communicate with people of differing religions, ages, sexes and cultures. To deliver the most appropriate and effective medical treatment to such a broad spectrum of people, nurses must have an understanding of the way different cultures interact. Framed as a discussion forum, this program offers a starting point for training in transcultural nursing.
