  • Living in Vietnam

In many places there is no running water, and electricity is non-existent, or at best unreliable. In many places, life has remained virtually unchanged for over 500 years. We also take a look at Vietnam’s history and culture, with its emphasis on the importance of education and learning, the importance of the market and village, and how this culture has been shaped by Chinese and Western influences

  • Making Decisions and Being Assertive

This fresh, quick-paced video shows how self-awareness is a prerequisite to making good decisions and being assertive. Teenage characters demonstrate these skills in everyday situations in a series of dramatic vignettes. Throughout the video a young host comments on the skills they use, reviewing the steps of decision making: identifying the problem, listing the alternatives, exploring feelings and values, weighing the pros and cons of each alternative, making the choice and evaluating the choice. The second part of the video examines the differences between passive, aggressive, and assertive behavior. The scenarios address a range of issues including careers, relationships, bullying and cheating.

  • Making Maps

This video gives us an insight into the procedure of drawing a map. It explains the use of symbols, and how to apply a scale to measure distances. Practical examples are featured such as mapping a classroom, a house and a garden. We use latitude and longitude, drawing to scale, measuring distance, using grid reference and contour maps. This excellent resource is relevant to Mathematics and Science curriculums.

  • Mass Production of Food

This video shows how the following foods are produced: jam production, Pasta, Curries, sauces, mixes, soups; meat – prepackaged; apples – growing, harvesting, and processing; chocolate products, confectionary; coffee – blending, roasting, packaging.

  • Meat Processing

This video gives an overview of the manufacture of meat small goods, such as ham, bacon, frankfurts, sausages and meat patties. It includes a description of the food preservation processes, hygiene and packaging requirements.
