Functions
Now in Algebra, we use a lot of variables, which we can write as letters. Our algebra mission in this module is to know these unknowns! In algebra, we don’t dilly-dally or mess about – we find things out. Topics include: Cost Functions Input and Output Scatter plots, Trend Lines, Graphs Domain and Range. Includes a DVD plus a CD-ROM with teacher’s guide, quizzes, graphic organizers and classroom activities.

Algebra Mechanics
In this program we are going to raise the hood and show you how algebra works! With some things in algebra, it’s just a step-by-step process to get to where you want to go and that’s exactly what we are going to work on today, the mechanics of algebra! Topics covered: Rule of Equality, Solving for X, Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides, Absolute Value, Simplifying Expressions, Solving Inequalities. Includes a DVD plus a CD-ROM with teacher’s guide, quizzes, graphic organizers and classroom activities.
-
Linear Equations
This program shows students that linear equations help explain changes in the real world. These equations can predict the future! That’s right… they can tell us what’s happened, what’s happening, and what might happen. So get out your crystal ball, and get ready to understand the powers of linear equations. Topics covered: Slope Horizontal and Vertical Lines Parallel and Perpendicular Lines,3 Forms of Linear Equations, Connecting with Graphs and Systems of Equations. Includes a DVD plus a CD-ROM with teacher’s guide, quizzes, graphic organizers and classroom activities.
-
Linear Inequalities
This program is a review of Linear inequalities. That’s right, not everything in this world is equal. Linear inequalities are like linear equations…except they are different and this program will tell you how and why! Topics include: Linear Inequalities, Graphing Linear Inequalities, Systems of Linear Inequalities. Includes a DVD plus a CD-ROM with teacher’s guide, quizzes, graphic organizers and classroom activities.

Principles of Physics 2 – Sound, Magnetism, Electricity and Radioactivity
Physics is a science that describes how things work. Almost everything around us can be explained in terms of the principles of physics. With the use of practical demonstrations related to common activities, this program investigates some of the key concepts of physics. Using a drum kit we look at how sound works, how we make it, and how it gets around. We investigate electricity and electromagnetism and compare the similarities between a remote control car and a mobile phone charger. Finally, we take a look at radioactivity and discover a radioactive device that can be found in almost every family home.

Safety in the Senior Science Lab
In every classroom in every school, everyone has the right to a safe learning environment. Science laboratories present a whole range of potential hazards to people’s health and well-being, and it is critical that both teachers and students are fully aware of their responsibilities to ensure the learning environment is kept safe at all times. Everyone’s behaviour must be such that danger is minimized – both to themselves and others. After a few years performing experiments in the school lab, it is easy to forget that science laboratories can be dangerous places. Unfortunately, accidents can and do occur. The most common ones are fire, chemical and thermal burns, cuts from broken glass, absorption of toxic chemicals through the skin, and inhalation of toxic fumes. Some of these accidents result in permanent injury. Awareness and preventative action are therefore paramount to maintaining a safe environment. This program is aimed at students who are not new to science laboratories. It covers a range of safety areas, including general safety in science laboratories and specific areas of potential risk in chemistry, biology and physics labs. It is an ideal learning resource for students of this level to remind them of the ever-present need to act with safety foremost in mind at all times during science classes.

The Physics of Light
What is light? How does it operate? What are its properties? Why is it so important to the foundations of our physical world? The Physics of Light examines the nature of light and how it’s harnessed in our lives. The basic properties of light and the wave model are explained, while various applications are demonstrated using these facts. We discuss the concepts of wavelength, frequency, speed, reflection, refraction, total internal reflection and dispersion. We investigate the EMR spectrum, the colour of objects, and the addition and subtraction of colours are explained.

Consumer Choice and Protection
We as consumers make choices everyday that satisfy our needs and wants which in turn affect our quality of life. We need to understand what has an impact on these decisions and how to make more informed choices to avoid scams and scammers. We need to understand the legal framework that provides consumer protection and how technology influences our economic decision-making.

Diet Related Disorders – Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity and Coeliac Disease
Around one in two people in the USA, Australia, and the UK are overweight. Knowledge of nutrition is integral to making healthy food choices. In this program we examine three diet-related disorders, looking in detail at the characteristics, causes, treatment and strategies for prevention. Common western health problems such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes and coeliac disease are discussed and their relationship with our diet explained. Follow us as we explore recent developments in food aimed at enhancing health, the impact of food consumption on nutrition, and ways of meeting food requirements to maintain optimum health and wellbeing.
