  • Defining Bullying in the Workplace

Using dramatized scenes and interviews with a variety of industry experts, this program demonstrates some of the many forms of workplace bullying and offers a sound framework to help understand the nature, causes and effects of workplace bullying.

  • Designing a Chair: Sitting Pretty

This program looks at chair design from two slightly different perspectives. One is presented by Julian Pratt, Co-ordinator Furniture Programs, RMIT University. His is a fairly standard ‘by-the-book’ kind of approach. The other practitioners take a more lateral, less academic approach to the question of design. Given their international reputation, their opinions provide a neat counterpoint to Julian Pratt.

  • The History of Evolution Theory

How did life come to be in all the myriad of forms that exist on earth today? In this program we present an overview, from a science viewpoint, of the development of answers to this fundamental question. From Lamarck and The Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics, Darwin’s Origin of the Species, development s by key biologists to recent directions, the program charts the development of evolutionary theory. The main ideas behind Intelligent Design are also examined.

  • Doing Great Research

This program helps to teach the fundamentals of the research process by following a student as he grapples with the difficulties of independent learning through a research project. He discovers along the way that research is more of a creative adventure than just a classroom chore. With help from friends and teachers he learns to identify his topic, create concept maps and find a rich range of resources. He also discovers some trusted techniques in recording his information and in bringing it all together in a presentation plan.

  • The Changing Nature of Work

New technologies, the ever-increasing speed of information flow, and growing global competition are transforming the way we work. Specific job descriptions and rigid hierarchies are being replaced by work based on teams and projects and the increased use of contractual and freelance workers.

  • Shaping the Workplace of the Future

Downsizing is having a tremendous impact on traditional livelihood expectations, decision-making, and job control. The effect of stress on worker health and the role of unions are also changing the face of today’s workplace and it’s workforce.

  • The Virtual Office

The explosive arrival of the World Wide Web means businesses and consumers can access a networked world – a vast marketplace with limitless potential. What kind of effect will this have on workers and the job market?

  • Genes and Cloning – Cloning, Selective Breeding

There is a lot of controversy around genetic modification of organisms and cloning. This program looks at the way man has modified genomes of plants and animals used for food since the dawn of agriculture. As knowledge of cells and genetics has increased so has man’s ability to alter genomes. Animations show how genetic engineers are now able to construct and insert genes for desirable characteristics into plants and how technology is used to increase numbers of animals with desirable traits and screen out those with disease or lower food yields.

  • Coordination and Control One: Animals

Providing an in-depth investigation into the two main mechanisms, this program looks in detail at the nervous system of animals, including neuron structure, how a signal is transmitted through and between neurons and the division of the nervous system into central and peripheral, voluntary and automatic. The hormone system is explained with a detailed look at the various endocrine glands, the hormones they secrete and their roles in coordinating the body’s functions. Extensive use of high-quality animated graphics and clear explanations ensure that this program is a powerful tool for enhancing student understanding of these complex biological processes in animals.

  • The Business of Marketing Food

This program examines the role of marketing in successful Australian food companies using two case studies – Sanitarium Foods and Gatorade.
