Grade levels: Adult

  • The Nervous System

Get ready. Get set. Get nervous! The Standard Deviants take you on a fun-filled tour of the human nervous system. They’ll check out the central and peripheral nervous systems and all the tissues that keep them connected. You’ll also learn about the brain, spinal cord, and much, much more. So sit back, relax, and let the Standard Deviants teach you about your nerves with out getting on your nerves.

  • Research and Societies

t’s full steam ahead into the sociology research process. Let’s say you have a theory about how the world works. Now what? Time to do a little research. You’ll find out how sociologists create a hypothesis, search for literature, and observe their subjects. Then we’ll travel back in time as we cover the different types of societies that have existed throughout history, like hunter/gatherer societies.

  • Culture

There are many different ways to look at culture; materialism, ethnocentrism, and norms are just three of the theories you’ll learn in the Standard Deviants culture club. Then, put on your white gloves and summon your butler, because then it’s a discussion of status and social groups.

  • Pre-Algebra:The Basics

The Standard Deviants start off with pre-algebra basics, such as integer exponents, the rules of exponents and factoring numbers. Along the way, you’ll meet that excellent number juggler, Erastothenes and his mathematical genius.

  • Sociology: The Basics

In this program, you’ll learn all the basics of sociology. The Standard Deviants introduce a few terms and then cover some of the heavy hitters in the field, including the founder of communism, Karl Marx.

  • Pre-Algebra: The Basics

The Standard Deviants start off with pre-algebra basics, such as integer exponents, the rules of exponents and factoring numbers. Along the way, you’ll meet that excellent number juggler, Erastothenes and his mathematical genius.

  • Famous Figures in Sociology

It’s a sociologist bonanza. The Standard Deviants cover several of the major contributors to sociology. Who are these people? How’d they get into the history books? What did they say about family and society? You’ll find out how their work influences budding sociologists today.

  • Vital Concepts

The Standard Deviants travel from top to bottom and from high to low, all in search of the math concepts you need to know: tree diagrams and square roots, greatest common factors and least common multiples. Plus, get ready for some prime time prime factorization.

  • Roots and Rational Numbers

The Standard Deviants get back to their roots-higher roots and roots with fractional exponents, that is. But it doesn’t stop there; they also take a cruise down the number line and keep our eyes peeled for rational and irrational numbers, plus repeating decimals.

  • Basic Algebra

This program continues the discussion of the number line and includes a review of intervals and inequalities. Then it’s the first steps into basic algebra-constants, variables, equations, and a special surprise appearance by X.
