Learn Locker Inc. dba Magic Lantern Media (“Magic Lantern Media”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard personal information when you use the Magic Lantern Media website and catalogue at www.magiclanternmedia.ca.

We may collect information you provide when you request a preview, contact us, purchase a licence, or request customer support. This may include your name, email address, school or organization, billing address, province or region, requested film, order details and correspondence with us.

Our website and hosting providers may also collect limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, referring page, access time and security logs.

Payments and taxes

Payments are processed by Stripe. Payment and billing information is sent directly to Stripe so it can process the transaction, calculate applicable GST/HST and help prevent fraud. Magic Lantern Media does not receive or store your complete payment-card number. Stripe handles personal information under its own privacy policy.

How we use information

We use personal information to respond to preview and support requests; process and document orders; provide licence and supplemental-resource access; calculate and report taxes; prevent fraud and misuse; maintain and improve the website; meet legal, accounting and record-keeping obligations; and communicate with you about the services you requested.

When we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose it to service providers that help us operate the website, process payments, send transactional email, host data or provide technical support. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect legal rights and security, or in connection with a business reorganization. Service providers receive only the information reasonably needed for their work and are subject to their own contractual and legal obligations.

Storage, retention and security

Information may be processed in Canada or in other countries where our service providers operate. We retain order, licence and tax records for the periods required for business and legal purposes. Preview requests and support correspondence are retained only as long as reasonably needed. We use administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site may use essential cookies needed for WordPress administration, security and the checkout process. Third-party services such as Stripe may use their own cookies or similar technologies when you interact with them.
