These Terms of Use apply to the Magic Lantern Media website at www.magiclanternmedia.ca, operated by Learn Locker Inc. dba Magic Lantern Media (“Magic Lantern Media”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By using the website, you agree to these terms. A film purchase is also governed by the licence agreement presented at checkout; if these terms conflict with that licence agreement about use of licensed material, the licence agreement controls.

Catalogue and website use

You may browse the catalogue, request evaluation copies and purchase available educational-use licences for legitimate personal or institutional purposes. You may not interfere with the website, attempt to bypass its security, use automated tools that impose an unreasonable load, collect personal information about other users, or use the website for unlawful or fraudulent activity.

Catalogue information and availability

We try to keep titles, descriptions, formats, prices, rights and availability accurate, but catalogue information may contain errors or change without notice. A preview is provided for evaluation when available and does not itself grant a public-performance, duplication, distribution or other licence.

Purchases, prices and taxes

Prices are shown in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise. Applicable GST/HST is calculated from the billing information provided at checkout. Payment processing is provided by Stripe. An order is not complete until payment is confirmed. If a pricing, availability or technical error affects an order, we may contact you to correct or cancel it and provide any refund that is due.

Educational licences

Your permitted use of a purchased film and related material is defined by the licence agreement you accept at checkout. Unless that agreement states otherwise, the licence term is two years. You are responsible for keeping licensed files and supplemental resources secure and for ensuring they are used only by the licensed institution and authorized users.

Supplemental resources

Teacher guides, lesson plans, transcripts, closed-caption files and other supplemental materials may be supplied only with an eligible paid licence. Access may end when the associated licence expires, is refunded or is otherwise terminated. These materials may not be posted publicly or redistributed except as expressly allowed by the licence.

Intellectual property

The website, catalogue presentation, text, graphics and other site content are owned by or licensed to Magic Lantern Media and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Film artwork, descriptions and related materials may be owned by their respective producers or licensors. No ownership rights are transferred to you except for the limited rights expressly granted in an applicable licence.

Third-party services and links

The website may use or link to services operated by third parties, including Stripe. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services, which are governed by their own terms and policies.

Disclaimer and limitation

The website is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, Magic Lantern Media disclaims warranties not expressly stated in an applicable written agreement and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of the website. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes, suspension and governing law

We may update these terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. We may suspend access where reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, suspected misuse or legal compliance. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without limiting any mandatory rights that apply to you.
